Another day, another alleged Samsung leak. This time it’s all about the processor and GPU that may be injected into the Samsung Galaxy S10.
This article was originally posted 10 July 2018 at 7:30PM AEST.
This rumour comes mere days after another from ice Universe that revealed that there may be three phones in the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup — the entry level Beyond 0, as well as a Beyond 1 and 2. The latter is presumed to be a ‘plus’ version of the 1.
The tip also claimed that the Beyond 0 would have a side fingerprint scanner, whereas the 1 and 2 would have FOD functionality.
This new tip also comes Ice Universe who state that the processor in the Samsung Galaxy S10 will be an Exynos 9820 SoC with 2+2+4 DynamIQ architecture. It will allegedly contain an oct-core configuration with two Exynos M4 big cores, either 2 Cortex-A75 or A76 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores.
Samsung’s next-generation Exynos 9820 will use the 2+2+4 DynamIQ architecture, 2xExynos M4 is the big core, 2xCortex-A75 (or A76) is the medium core, and 4xA55 is the small core. pic.twitter.com/3T5AUbcWhV

While that tweet doesn’t specifically name the Galaxy S10, a later reply confirms it.

There have also been reports that Ice Universe revealed on Weibo that the the 9820 will contain a Mali-G76 GPU by ARM (and TSMC, apparently), which is the first 7nm mobile GPU. If we can find the alleged Weibo post, we’ll be sure to update the article with it.
What makes this all the more interesting is that last month there was a rumour that Samsung was developing its own in-house GPU for mobile. So if Ice Universe turn out to be right, we may be waiting until the generation after next to see that hit the market. Alternatively, maybe this new rumour will turn out to be bogus.
Either way, it’s safe to assume that we can expect improved performance from whatever chipset ends up being used. For now, there are a lot of ‘maybes’ and ‘possibilities’ out there.
If the S10s do end up with an Exynos 9820, it won’t be particularly surprising. The S9s contain 9810s in the markets that don’t have a Snapdragon 845. But until we have anything more concrete than social media posts — it’s best to remain interested, but skeptical. We’re still a long way off this announcement, and still have the Note 9 to get through first.

People are already looking to the next generation of Samsung Galaxy S10s, and it looks like there may be three of them… as well as some interesting fingerprint choices.”]
