Alcatel Is Releasing An $89 Smartphone

Budget smartphone manufacturer Alcatel has just announced four new devices for the Australian market, and they’re all under $200.

Alcatel purposely doesn’t play in the expensive smartphone space, leaving that market for the likes of Apple and Samsung. But the company is pushing to deliver premium functionality and inclusions in phones on the other end of the spectrum. Here’s what they look like.

The brand is the first in market to offer 18:9 display at lower price points, and has even built in facial recognition technology.

“There continues to be a need and strong demand for compelling sub-$200 alternatives, with Aussies craving affordable yet well-made, attractive options. We work closely with our parent company TCL to ensure we leverage its manufacturing capabilities that means we can bring immersive entertainment experiences and attractive devices to our smartphone customers through 18:9 displays, improved battery life and enhanced camera quality, all at an affordable price,” said Sam Skontos, VP and Regional Managing Director of South East Asia and Pacific Alcatel Mobile.

The Alcatel 1 Series also features improved connectivity, battery life, enhanced camera quality and more security options. A great first phone for kids, the Alcatel 1X and 1 run on Android GO, which features a built-in data manager meaning there are more ways than ever to stay in control of data usage and spend, as well as Google Play Protect which keeps the device secure. The Alcatel 1C offers a fingerprint scanner.
