Over 700 Laws Are Stopping Self-Driving Cars In Australia

The National Transport Commission has just released a video that explores the future of autonomous driving in Australia. It brings up some important points, and asks the question: would you travel in an automated vehicle?

As it turns out, there are over seven-hundred legal hurdles that need to be addressed in order for autonomous driving to be above board in Australia.

The video explains some of the issues that need to be tackled such as insurance, how the government will access and use the data gathered by these vehicles and what driving laws need to be reviewed in order to accommodate non-human drivers.

NTC Australia plans on having end-to-end system of regualtions for automated vehicles by 2020.

It’s interesting stuff and may just make you think twice about whether you would actually be comfortable with autonomous driving.
