Optus Now Have Unlimited Mobile Data Plans (For Real This Time)

Optus have just introduced the first unlimited mobile plans in Australia. And while they kind of already did this back in March, it only lasted for a day. Let’s see if it sticks this time.

There are currently three ‘Unleashed’ plans available, and they seem to be strongly marketed at families.

For one Sim you’re looking at $60 per month, with a total minimum cost of $720 over 12 months. There are then small discounts offered for additional sims: $110 per month for two ($1320 over 12 months) and $150 per month for three ($1800 over 12 months).

It’s worth noting that these are SIM only plans and are only available for eligible Optus customers. So it looks like newbies will be missing out for the time being.

The fine print also reveals that music and video streaming and downloads will tether at 1.5Mbps and that heavy data users may experience slower speeds during congested time periods. Sorry, Telstra Data Guy.
