LEGO Star Wars UCS Y-Wing Starfighter

Like the massive, $1299.99 Millennium Falcon LEGO released last year, the toymaker’s new UCS Y-Wing Starfighter is actually an updated version of a set that originally hit stores back in 2004. The new version ups the piece count from 1485 to 1967, which means there’s slightly more detail on this model, plus a fancy, silver R2-BHD astromech droid. Like its predecessor, the Y-Wing has retractable skids, rotating ion cannons and an opening canopy, plus a display stand with a fact sheet for display. It will be available starting May 4 for $299.99.

Hot Toys Avengers: Infinity War Sixth-Scale Thanos Figure

Standing approximately 41.5cm tall, Hot Toys’ new Avengers: Infinity War Thanos is one of the toymaker’s largest sixth-scale figures to date, and it certainly does justice to one of Marvel Comics’ most infamous baddies. For $500 you get swappable hands and arms for striking your preferred pose, and some impressively-detailed armour. But as accessories go, Hot Toys’ Thanos comes with not one, but two of the most coveted weapons in the universe. Both versions of Thanos’ Infinitely Gauntlets light up thanks to LEDs hidden inside, but one comes with a clenched fist pose, while the other features articulated fingers for pointing out which Avenger is probably going to die in the movie.

Hot Toys Avengers: Infinity War Sixth-Scale Black Widow Figure

Thanos isn’t the only Infinity War star getting his own figure this week – Hot Toys also revealed another figure in its ever-growing line of insanely expensive and insanely detailed 1:6 scale figures, in the form of Black Widow. Naturally, the big part of the appeal for Widow is less the swanky new costume (and hair!), and more the sheer number of gadgets the new Natasha figure comes with. She has two electro-batons and a single, extended one, and then two small handheld items that almost look as though they’re stun guns but are actually described as “disc shooters”, so it seems as though Widow will have a few new toys to play with in the movie. Which is more than enough of an excuse to buy the new figure! Black Widow is not currently available for preorder, but when she is, you can expect her to arrive late this year. [Hot Toys]

ThinkGeek Tentacuddle Blanket

If there’s a silver lining to the bleak morning full of fraud and lies that is April Fools’ Day, it’s ThinkGeek’s prank products. They’re clever, well-executed, and occasionally get turned into real products. Remember the Tauntaun sleeping bag that you can actually buy now? The same thing has happened with last year’s Tentacuddle blanket prank. Who among us hasn’t curled up on the couch with a blanket, only to lament that it doesn’t make us feel like a mermaid, giant squid or kraken? For $US60 ($78), this woven blanket gives you five tentacles, covered in faux suckers, to help warm your various appendages.

Figma ‘Big Chap’ Alien

Sculpted by Takayuki Takeya, this special Alien Figma is based on the original “Big Chap” design from the first movie. As well as being fully poseable right down to individual joints in its tail, the figure also comes with an illustration of Takeya’s original design for the variant, as well as a facehugger that you can pose attacking your other Figmas in moments of toy-based horror. What more could you want? The Takeya Big Chap will set you back around ¥8148 ($99) when it hits shelves in Japan this December. [Toyark]
