Highlander

Deadline reports The Highlander reboot is moving forward with a new script from writer Ryan Condal (Colony). Lionsgate’s Head of Motion Picture Group, Patrick Wachsberger, stated in a press release:

We’ve finally got a screenplay we’re happy with. We have set up the story so it has sequel potential.

Captain Marvel

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet discussed keeping a comedic tone for Carol Danvers in the script:

Captain Marvel has a very funny voice, and it’s more of an action-comedy, more like what we were talking about doing in the first draft I wrote for Tomb Raider…. [but] that tone survived in Captain Marvel. I love funny female characters, so as Tomb Raider got more serious, I got even more committed to the idea of Captain Marvel being hilarious.

Peter Pan

Speaking with Comic Book, producer Jim Whitaker referred to David Lowry’s latest live-action adaptation of Peter Pan as “rollicking”.

I would say some of the tenets of [David Lowery’s] great work is a kind of grounded emotionality. And I think that’s at least one part of what you can expect. But it will be a big, rollicking adventure, too.

Mulan

Disney/Marvel

Mulan is only the tip of the dated iceberg, however, because Disney also announced release dates for a whopping 28 untitled projects between now and 2023, including 7 Marvel movies.
