In a short statement, the creators of dating app Tinder have told the world that they are adding a new feature, called Feed, to their service. This will give the hook-up app a social media flavour that adds a media-rich Twitter-like feed to the familiar swipe right/left interface.
The original blog post was given a one line update just a short time ago saying “Feed is now rolling out to all Tinder users worldwide” after a limited trial for the last few months.
It was followed by a tweet from the company’s Chief Product Officer.

Feed is a timeline of recent app activity that shows recent matches and their most recent pics, as well as some music they like from Spotify that they’ve added to their profile. The most recent profile changes and actions are listed at the top and you can comment on items in Feed. That might help kick off conversations with something more meaningful than “Hi”.
I used a dating app to meet my wife. One of the neat things about the service we met through was that it provided a rich set of data from which we could choose potential partners. Tinder, on the other hand, has taken a more superficial view. Feed is a step away from a simple “Do I like how they look” view of dating to adding a little bit more context.
I think that’s a good thing.
