Tesla’s Semi Truck Looks Surprisingly Fast

We all know that electric motors have gobs of torque, and can accelerate quick as all hell. We also know that Tesla is developing an all-electric semi truck. Now we get to see both of those things confirmed, in one simple video.

In the video we see Tesla’s semi driving bobtail (cool-kid trucker slang for ‘no trailer’) down a little 40km/h street in some industrial part of a city.

We also see the truck driver’s contempt for that 40km/h limit, since the driver lays some rubber right on the big 25 painted right on the street before hauling arse down the road.

Also notable is the semi’s taillight treatment: Tesla seems to have foregone the traditional truck setup of cheap box-taillights in favour of a single long red LED strip. I wonder if that more-expensive detail will make it to production.
