Watch VFX Wizards Make All The Magic In Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Video: It’s doubtful if any of the Harry Potter books could have been turned into movies without the benefit of modern visual effects techniques. And while so much of what you see in blockbuster movies is created by a computer now, it’s fun to see the old-school, on-set tricks used to make films such as Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them before the VFX are added.

Although the movie hit theatres back in 2016, VFX studio Double Negative only just released its behind-the-scenes look at its post-production work on the film. Many of the New York sets appear to be complete digital fabrications, but there’s something satisfying about watching antique cars being yanked around by cables and pulleys to simulate the ground being torn up beneath them – when nothing is actually happening on set.

And then, of course, there’s the beasts themselves…
