The New Rampage Trailer Sees The Rock Adorably Concerned About His Gorilla Friend

Video: Giant gorillas, mutated alligators, and Dwayne Johnson’s ridiculous collection of guns. Must be a new trailer for Rampage.

Yes, a new Rampage trailer is here – and, like the last two, this one expands on the peculiar premise drawn from the ’80s video game. Some of the footage is stuff we’ve already seen, but near the end, you start to see exactly how this is all going to play out. It looks ridiculous but also potentially really fun.

So of course, Johnson teams up with George, his gorilla friend, to help defeat the other two mutated creatures. We all expect that to happen since so much emphasis is placed on that relationship in these trailers. But I’m a little surprised none of these trailers give us the iconic shot: Three beasts, climbing up buildings, smashing them all to bits. No matter how much we care for George or the other characters, if that shot is not in this movie, I’ll be let down.

Also, this trailer kind of cuts around what is a super impressive supporting cast. Sure, we get a decent amount of Naomi Harris and Jeffrey Dean Morgan here, but there’s also Malin Akerman and Joe Manganiello.

We’ll find out if the movie lives up to our beastly expectations when Rampage, directed by Brad Peyton, opens April 12.
