Prepare for the return of laser raptors, gun-toting vikings, and time travelling to kill a kung fu-obsessed Adolf Hitler. Cult sensation Kung Fury is coming back with a feature-length sequel, and Michael Fassbender is leading the team.
According to Variety, Fassbender has signed on to star in the sequel to Kung Fury, the 2015 short film that has gained a massive cult following ever since it was partially funded on Kickstarter. Much like the original short, the Kung Fury sequel will take place in Miami circa 1985, where Kung Fury and his Thundercops police force work to keep the peace. After a Thundercop dies, causing the group to disband, a mysterious villain teams up with Hitler to “attain the ultimate weapon”.
Fassbender joins a returning David Hasselhoff, who had a role and music video in the original short film. Shooting is expected to start this winter. In the meantime, now is as good as time as any to watch Kung Fury if you haven’t already. It has a dinosaur robot slap fight. It basically watches itself.
