Bystanders Describe The Mysterious Wolverine In Marvel’s New Scripted Podcast Trailer

We were a little surprised when Marvel announced it would be producing a Serial-like podcast featuring none other than Wolverine – but we were also intrigued. Now we have our first trailer of Wolverine: The Long Night to give us a better idea of what to expect.

In partnership with Stitcher Audio, the scripted podcast will run for 10 episodes and air weekly beginning March 12. Marvel describes the story:

The Wolverine: The Long Night story is a captivating hybrid of mystery and the larger-scale fantasy of the Marvel Universe. It follows agents Sally Pierce (Celia Keenan-Bolger) and Tad Marshall (Ato Essandoh) as they arrive in the fictional town of Burns, Alaska, to investigate a series of murders and quickly discover the town lives in fear of a serial killer. The agents team up with deputy Bobby Reid (Andrew Keenan-Bolger) to investigate their main suspect, Logan (Richard Armitage). Their search leads them on a fox hunt through the mysterious and corrupt town.

You can check out the full cast here but check out the trailer:

The podcast is written by Ben Percy (The Wilding, Red Moon), and directed by Brendan Baker with sound design by Chloe Prasinos. Percy spoke with Vulture about the project, saying, “I always wanted to write Wolverine, but I never thought it would be in this capacity.” He mentioned being inspired by the comic runs of Chris Claremont, Frank Miller, and Greg Rucka, but wouldn’t give too many details of where Wolverine: The Long Night will go. He did say of the story’s leads, “Sally Pierce and Tad Marshall are characters who have very different techniques. I wouldn’t call them a good cop and a bad cop, necessarily. You might find a parallel in, say, True Detective season one.”

You’ll have to sign up for Stitcher Premium if you want to listen to the episodes when they first debut, but Wolverine: The Long Night will go wide on other platforms in the fall. Marvel is also offering a code for one month of free listening; you can find out more on the podcast’s website.
