That’s who’s going to remake the film, at what studio, and with which creative team. If you guessed all three, you just won the game of Clue remake!

Deadline reports that Reynolds has signed a three-year, first-look deal with 20th Century Fox for his production company, Maximum Effort. And the first project Reynolds is developing is based on the board game Clue, which of course was already made into a film in 1985 starring Tim Curry, Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren.

And while that film is beloved today, it’s definitely more of a cult classic. It wasn’t a huge box office hit at the time. Which is why, you’d assume, Reynolds and Fox see the idea of a remake as something ripe for the picking. That, and the incredible success of Jumanji (which is based on a book about a board game, not a board game, but it’s close).

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the Deadpool films, are in talks to write the script but a deal isn’t yet in place. Reynolds would produce and also likely star in one of the roles.

The project is in its very early days so don’t expect the movie to be on screens too soon. Especially when you remember the first rumblings of this project came two years ago. But, it’s in the works, and that’s sure to have some Clue fans very excited, and others very concerned.

Reynolds will next be seen in Deadpool 2, and is soon making the Detective Pikachu movie.
