Video: Top Gun undoubtedly had some of the best air-to-air combat scenes ever put on film, but watching crop duster pilot Butch Fisher skim this field and then barely pull up in time to miss a towering tree might be even more exhilarating.
Crop dusting planes have been in use for as long as humans have been able to fly, but it’s interesting to hear Fisher explain how modern electronics such as GPS have improved the efficiency and safety of these low-altitude flybys. You still need a skilled pilot at the controls, however, although you have to wonder how long it will be before this is all done by autonomous drones.
