The architect of the Battlestar Galactica reboot, and most recently Starz’s adaptation of the time-travel romance Outlander, is heading back to space for a new TV show. The twist is that will be a show made for Apple’s growing, but lofty, TV plans.

Few details about Moore’s new series are currently available, other than the fact that Apple has ordered the project and that, according to Entertainment Weekly, the show offers a speculative future where “the global space race had never ended”. While it’s still a bit weird that the show is being produced specifically through Apple (which greenlit a Steven Spielberg-led reboot of the classic genre anthology show Amazing Stories just a few months ago), the idea of a completely new sci-fi show from Moore has us intrigued. Moore’s own legacy with sci-fi, beyond the rebooted Battlestar, also includes being a key part of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager.
We’ll bring you more on Apple’s latest genre project as and when we learn more.
