Wonder Woman‘s standalone debut in the DC movie universe was a bright spot in a year that’s been sorely lacking in bright spots. So it’s probably no surprise that, even months after it opened, Wonder Woman has remained one of the things we’re still discussing as 2017 comes to an end.
We’re specifically doing that discussing on Twitter, which has begun releasing its annual metrics about the things we’ve tweeted about the most this year. Genre fare naturally made up a good chunk of both the film and TV lists for Twitter’s most popular media of the year. For film at least, Wonder Woman sits at the top of the table, topping everything from Thor: Ragnarok to It, and even the other DC heroes in Justice League:
1. Wonder Woman
2. La La Land
3. Dunkirk
4. Spider-Man: Homecoming
5. Justice League
6. It
7. Beauty and the Beast
8. Thor: Ragnarok
9. Black Panther
10. Fifty Shades Darker
Honestly it’s kind of a surprise The Last Jedi isn’t there, but I guess considering it’s not actually out for another week, it’s not quite able to compete with movies that have been out for months. That didn’t stop Black Panther from making people go crazy, though!
Meanwhile there’s no big surprises on the TV front — Game of Thrones‘ seventh season garnered the most attention of the year as it killed dragons and united the worlds of Ice and Fire (a crosses political divides to outlast us all, Supernatural:
1. Game of Thrones
2. Stranger Things
3. Big Brother
4. 13 Reasons Why
5. Saturday Night Live
6. The Walking Dead
7. Grey’s Anatomy
8. The Voice
9. Supernatural
10. Pretty Little Liars
Congratulations to the shows and films we used this year to escape the ongoing nightmare that is the general news cycle in 2017. Is there anything you’re surprised to see missing from either of these lists? Head on over to Gizmodo to see more of Twitter’s year in review.
