Your Christmas Decorations Can’t Compete With The Light-Up Millennium Falcon On This Family’s Roof

Video: If you’re the type of person who gets caught up in decorating competitions around the holidays, be thankful you don’t live near Colby Powell and his family. Instead of inflatable Santas or a towering tree, they built a light-up Millennium Falcon on the roof of their house that measures almost 9m long.

Make magazine has all the details of the entire build, which included a lot of lumber, a lot of PVC plumbing pipe, and an old parachute wrapped around the giant frame the family built. The final ship was nowhere near as heavy as the real Millennium Falcon must be, but it still required Powell to borrow a crane in order to lift the 318kg holiday decoration onto the roof of his house.

The family plans to leave the Millennium Falcon on display at least until Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theatres, or until Jabba the Hutt’s hired goons start snooping around his property.
