Help: The Legend Of Zelda Is 31 Years Old

What’s that? Oh nothing, just the sound of the 80s, 90s, even the noughties – being so long ago I’m unintentionally emitting a high-pitched continual scream of horror.

Everything is fine. It’s fine.

Here, have a GIF of Link evolving over three whole decades as a distraction.

The guys over at DankGeek (huge Zelda fans) created this morphing GIF showing the complete evolution of Link. It’s to celebrate the fact that today, Ocarina of Time is 19 years old.

I’m not sobbing you’re sobbing.

Some of the graphics aren’t in chronological order, though – this makes for a better “morph” but might make your eye twitch if you’re a perfectionist.

It goes from:

  • The Legend of Zelda
  • The Adventure of Link
  • Links Awakening
  • Links Awakening (Gameboy Color, identical or nearly identical to Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages)
  • A Link to The Past
  • Four Swords (nearly identical to Four Swords Adventures and The Minish Cap)
  • Tri Force Heroes
  • A Link Between Worlds
  • Ocarina of Time (young link, also stand in for Majora’s Mask)
  • Ocarina of Time (Older Link)
  • The Wind Waker (also stand in for Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks as similar or identical design)
  • Twilight Princess
  • Skyward Sword
  • Breath of The Wild

So yeah – not exactly the right order, but hey – it looks cool!
