A Hilariously Animated Hulk Mask, And More Of The Most Fun Toys Of The Week

Welcome back to Toy Aisle, our weekly roundup of the best toys floating around the internet. This week, LEGO resurrects an iconic set, the Flash dashes into Hot Toys’ Justice League range, and yes, the Porgs continue their endless march across Star Wars merchandising mania. Let’s take a look, shall we?

LEGO Creator Expert Taj Mahal

Hot on the heels of the largest LEGO set ever released, the 7541-piece Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Series Millennium Falcon, the company is resurrecting the set that previous held that title. Starting on November 27, the 5923-piece Taj Mahal will be available once again, now with one additional piece, and an improved building experience, according to LEGO. Unlike the $1299.99 Millennium Falcon, the Taj Mahal will set you back $499.99 which still isn’t cheap, but feels more financially manageable in comparison. [LEGO]

Disney Toybox Figures

When Disney’s foray into the “toys-to-life” video game genre Disney Infinity was cancelled last year, one of the greatest losses was the toys themselves – and specifically, the cartoony artstyle they were rendered in that let the game bring a semblance of visual coherence to a cast of characters that stretched across Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar and the wider Disney pantheon. Rey could stand next to Aladdin or Captain America and not look wildly out of place, and that was kind of cool.

So it’s a good job Disney is bringing the aesthetic back for a new series of fully articulated, 13cm scaled action figures. Exclusive to Disney Stores, the $US12 ($16) figures launching today are kicking off with a mix of Star Wars, Marvel and Toy Story characters, with more on the way. [Disney]

Star Wars The Black Series Porgs

You can’t talk about Star Wars these days without talking about Porgs, and that even includes merchandise. There are already Porg plushes, Porg Funko Pops, and Porg action figures big and small – and now the Porgs have entered the collectors market in the form of this ridiculously cute set of fuzzballs for the “Black Series” line of 15cm-scaled figures. These guys, of course, are nowhere near that big – they’re sized to go with the other 15cm characters in the line, so they’re closer to about 2.5cm or so tall. Thankfully that means a much cheaper price than a typical Black Series offering: Two lil’ Porgs will set you back just $US6 ($8) when they release in autumn next year.

Winning Solutions Monopoly Transformers Deluxe Collector’s Edition

We got our first look at Winning Solutions’ over-the-top Monopoly Transformers Deluxe Collector’s Edition at Toy Fair earlier this year. It seems like every week there’s a new version of Monopoly released that caters to a different fan base, but with an aluminium frame that opens (transforms) to reveal a glass-topped game board, Transformers fans are well taken care of here. Initially expected to sell for $US500-$US600 ($654-$784), the game will finally be available on November 15 for $US300 ($392), although only 1000 units are being produced. [Winning Solutions]

Marvel Thor: Ragnorak Hulk-Out Mask

Did you realise you were living in the golden age of animated cosplay masks? Following up on its excellent Spider-Man: Homecoming Spider Sight Mask, Hasbro now has a Thor: Ragnorak Hulk-Out Mask featuring a chin-activated mouth that opens and closes, as well as a pair of raising angry eyebrows that somehow get even angrier. Technically, the $35 mask is designed for kids aged five and up, but adults can squeeze into it too if they’re feeling the need to Hulk out. [Hasbro]

QMX Star Trek Khan Figure

QMX’s line of Star Trek themed figures have mostly cut a path through the beloved bridge crews of Trek, but its latest entry offers up an iconic villain instead. Based on his appearance in the original series episode “Space Seed”, the 1/6-scaled Khan comes with multiple sets of hands to pose him with, and two cool accessories based on his fight with Captain Kirk in the episode: Kirk’s crushed phaser after it encountered Khan’s genetically-enhanced strength, and the Engineering rod Kirk desperately flailed at Khan with to defeat him. Sure they’re accessories that basically demand you pick up QMX’s Kirk figure too, but that’s a damn-good looking figure, too. [Toyark]

Hot Toys 1/6-Scale Justice League The Flash

Like it or not, if you want the entire Justice League team perched on your shelf, ready to defend your prized toy collection, it’s going to have to include the Flash. He isn’t exactly the coolest of DC Comics’ heroes, but at least Hot Toys’ 30cm version of him from the upcoming Justice League film is fantastically detailed with a great face sculpt of actor Ezra Miller. The $US228 ($298) figure includes 30 points of articulation, swappable hands, a Batarang, and four lightning effects that can be attached to his outfit. [Sideshow Collectibles]
