The First Trailer For Alien Invasion S.U.M.1 Is A Lot More Intriguing Than Its Name, Which Is Bad

Admittedly that wouldn’t be too challenging for a film with “Alien Invasion” literally in the title, but this scifi thriller honestly looks quite interesting.

The movie, starring Iwan Rheon – taking a break from speaking in a dodgy accent on Inhumans – as a soldier tasked with holding a remote outpost on his own in the wake of an invasion by aliens called the “Nonesuch” that’s destroyed most of humanity. From there, it all gets a bit cerebral, as 100 days of isolation and little contact with what’s left of the outside world starts sending Rheon’s character a little bit bonkers.

It’s an interesting premise, as the soldier has to slowly cling to either his remaining time on duty or what’s left of his sanity, to the point he’s unsure if the aliens are either right on his doorstep or never actually existed at all. But yeah, a name as painfully generic as Alien Invasion S.U.M.1 isn’t helping, despite what looks like it could be a solid performance from Rheon and a cool premise.

Alien Invasion S.U.M.1 is set for a limited theatrical release alongside an on-demand launch December 1.
