Polar

Variety reports Mads Mikkelsen will star in an adaptation of Victor Santos’s graphic novel, Polar: Came With the Cold from director Jonas Åkerlund. Originally a webcomic, the series concerns the world’s most successful assassin being hunted by his fellow killers-for-hire.

Nonplayer

Likewise, Legendary has purchased the film rights to Nate Simpson’s comic, Nonplayer, about a tamale vendor who finds herself sucked into her favourite video game. Thor: Ragnarok‘s Chris Pearson is set to write the screenplay. [Deadline]

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Making Star Wars recently got their hands on some talking action figures of D.J., Leia, Rey and Luke, revealing a few snippets of dialogue from the film (although a few of Rey’s and Leia’s might be from The Force Awakens):

DJ

  • “Hey, I’m a thief.”
  • “Oh for Hutt’s sake!”
  • “I can get you outta here.”
  • “If the price is right.”
  • “Let’s get this over with.”

Leia

  • “Together, we can defeat the First Order.”
  • “May the Force be with you.”
  • “Send them in.”
  • “I will do everything I can to help.”
  • “All troops open fire!”

Rey

  • “I’m Rey.”
  • “The Resistance sent me.”
  • “Help me with this quick.”
  • “You’re a monster.”

Luke

  • “Reach out with your feelings.”
  • “You shouldn’t be here.”
  • “How did you find me?”
  • “Nooo!”
  • “What do you know of the Force?”

Contra

Konami is developing both a live-action movie and television series based on their video game series, the classic, painfully hard sidescrolling shooter Contra. The developer has already released a teaser.

Avengers: Infinity War

Terry Notary has confirmed to Yahoo! he’s playing the teenage Groot as well as one of the Thanos’ Black Order:

Yes, I am playing teenage Groot. I’m having a blast with it. It’s really, really fun. I can’t say too much about him, but he’s coming of age, so you’ll see the teenager find a mentor to look up to and to model himself after. The character’s great, and the films are going to be great. We’ve got such an amazing cast and a great pair of directors at the helm. The Russos allow the actors to jam on scenes together to the point where it just feels great and everybody gets their moments.

More set photos reveal Black Panther, Shuri and Ant-Man on set, as well as Terry Notary, Mark Ruffalo and Sean Gunn in mo-cap suits. I really do wish this was just a casual look for T’Challa in the movie and not just Chadwick Boseman between takes.

Justice League

The latest TV spot gives us our best taste of Steppenwolf yet.

Meanwhile, Cyborg/Wonder Woman week unspools with a pair of new featurettes.

Lastly, Coming Soon has AMC’s version of the poster, featuring Atlanteans, Amazons and Parademons.
