Game Of Thrones Star Says The Final Season Starts Filming In Less Than Two Weeks

Fingers crossed that we don’t have to wait until 2019 for winter to end. Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham has revealed that filming is set to start the week after next for the last season of the series.

During a panel for Amazon’s upcoming anthology series Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, which Cunningham stars in one episode of, the Onion Knight was (of course) asked about the final season of Game of Thrones. He revealed that he just received the scripts and, while he hasn’t actually read them yet, he’s set to start pre-production next week and then filming soon after.

“Yesterday, something quite monumental happened. I got the scripts for the last season,” Cunningham said. “Tomorrow I fly back to Ireland… [and begin] the first table reading of the first three episodes on Sunday.”

He said script readings will take place over the next week, and shooting starts the week after that. But, of course, there’s no word on how long it will take to film the final season; while it only consists of six episodes, each one is said to cost around $US15 million ($19 million) and could be up to 80 minutes in length.
