Star Trek: Discovery‘s premiere was littered with references and callbacks to classic Star Trek, to link the show, set 10 years prior to the original series, to its predecessor. But one of its neatest references barely appeared on screen, and even when it did, you couldn’t really make it out.

It turns out that the sparse collection of books Michelle Yeoh’s Captain Georgiou kept in her ready room on the Shenzhou was actually a series of books named after original Star Trek episode titles. The detail was revealed by producer Aaron Baiers after Discovery‘s premiere, as we never actually got close enough to see the book spines in the episode.

It’s a cute callback, even if it’s one that will no doubt have Trek fans scratching their heads and cursing the Temporal Prime Directive if they ever attempt to figure out a reason as to why Captain Georgiou had knowledge of Kirk and crew’s adventures 10 years before they happened. Between that and the fact her office had bottles of wine from Chateau Picard too, it seems like Phillipa Georgiou is a secret Trekkie.
