Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

During a panel at Hasbro’s recent convention, Hascon, director James Gunn confirmed that, despite his fellow former Guardians of the Galaxy from the comics all being introduced as old Ravagers in Guardians 2, Vance Astro will not be making an appearance in the next Guardians movie.

Meanwhile, although unspecific about whether or not this would be in the third Guardians movie or another project, Gunn also stated that there’s intentions to explore Rocket’s origins — “a little different” from what we know of them in the comics — in the future.

As you know, the MCU is one way of processing these characters. 616 is a different one. We are going to learn more about where Rocket comes from in the coming sagas. It’s going to be a little different from the comics. We already know a lot about from where he came from. It’s a little bit more horrible than what it is in the comics when you come down to it. We will learn more about that.

Aquaman

While promoting her new film, The Killing of A Sacred Deer, Nicole Kidman spoke about playing Atlanna in short, staccato sentences.

I got to be a mermaid. I got to be a Queen. I got to wear a crown. I got to lie on a rock with my hair strewn and blood and I kind of liked it. I’m not a mermaid, I don’t have a tail. I have a crown and I have a particular way of looking. I am a Queen.

Avengers 4

Speaking with Screen Rant, producer Brad Winderbaum neither confirmed nor denied whether Cate Blanchett would return as Hela.

Obviously we always think about the movies as standalones, even if they do set up a movie down the road or pay off something from a previous film. What we hope, if we do our jobs right, is that Hela is one of the best villains we’ve had — maybe the best, hopefully.

Cate has been delivering an incredible performance. She’s really scary and really charming. She’s very easy to watch, very fun to be around. But very murderous and horrible at the same time. You’re right that those are things that Thanos values. But when and how she plays into the future of the universe is uncertain now.

It: Chapter Two

Andy Muschietti told Variety the sequel hopes to have a script ready by January before entering pre-production this autumn. Muschietti also stated to Collider the sequel will feature several flashbacks to 1989:

[Chapter Two is] very connected to the first… there will be that dialogue between the two timelines that we didn’t have in the first one because the first one is all about the kids.

Muschietti also told Yahoo! Movies that he fully embraces the cosmic aspects of the novel, and that we may even get to see the “Macroverse” Pennywise hails from in the sequel:

Getting in to that other dimension — the other side — was something that we could introduce in the second part…I also wanted to leave something for the second half, so I didn’t want to get in trouble with that — going into the Macroverse or that transdimensional stuff. There’s another movie to expand into that.

The Nun

Writer Gary Dauberman stated the film is aiming for a Hammer Studios aesthetic.

Y’know, James [Wan] has been really particular and he wants each movie in the universe to have its own sort of flavour and its own sense of style and not feel like it’s just kind of a rehash of what’s come before and I think The Nun takes a really cool approach that, you know, we haven’t seen before in some of the other movies. It’s not … just based on the location alone, like where he was very particular about no, it’s gotta be in Romania because of certain story elements, but also because of the production value you get from like, a castle in Transylvania, and this big looming thing, and you get the cross and the fog over the graveyard. It’s very atmospheric, it’s very moody. We talked a lot about the Hammer movies and stuff like that as sort of an influence. So it’s got that kind of vibe to it that I think it’s just different and sets it apart.
