Hot on the heels of new plot and character details in the next instalment of James Cameron’s time-travelling AI apocalypse comes a release date: Terminator 6 — or Terminator 3: For Real This Time, or whatever it will be called — is coming out on July 26, 2019.
The date was announced in Variety on the same day that The Hollywood Reporter ran an interview with Cameron that talked about his return to the Terminator series:
Now an uncomfortable question. Arnold is going to be 71 years old when this shoots. How do you get around that fact?
CAMERON: You don’t have to get around it. The beauty of it is: He’s a cyborg. And so, the org part is on the outside, meaning organism. And Reese says it in the first film: “They sweat. They have bad breath.” Because they were supposed to be infiltration units, so there’s this idea that flesh sort of sheaths over a metal endo-skeleton. So that would age normally. So, obviously he’s one that’s been in action and operation for a long time. And that’s all I want to say about the actual story part of it.
Elsewhere at The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron said the following about his ridiculous film-making schedule: “The way I look at it is, I’m doing Avatar by day, Battle Angel by night and Terminator on the weekend.” You can read more details about Terminator 6‘s development right here.
