Samuel L. Jackson says he’s not in any of the upcoming Marvel movies… including Captain Marvel. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will have one cool throwback to the original 1954 movie. A Community star might be headlining the Russo’s Quantum and Woody TV show. Plus, new Inhumans footage. Spoilers now!
Captain Marvel/Avengers: Infinity War/Avengers 4/Black Panther
Speaking with Yahoo! Movies UK, Samuel L. Jackson revealed he has not been asked to appear in either Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4 or Black Panther.
I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [‘Captain America: Civil War’], I’m not in ‘Avengers 3 and 4’. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet. They wouldn’t let me go to ‘Black Panther’-ville, so it’s kinda like how you gonna make a black Marvel movie and not let Nick Fury show up in it?!
On the same tack, the highest grossing actor of all time isn’t sure if he’ll appear in Captain Marvel, either… despite the fact Marvel announced Nick Fury’s involvement in the movie at San Diego Comic-Con.
I haven’t signed a contract, haven’t seen a script. I talked to Brie [Larson] the other day and she didn’t say anything, she’s the only person I know that’s actually in the movie. I’ve been rumoured to be in several different Marvel movies that I haven’t shown up in.
Godzilla: King Of The Monsters
Director Mike Dougherty shared this image of Dr Serizawa’s Oxygen Destroyer from the original 1954 movie on Twitter, presumably meaning it’s going to be an Easter egg somewhere in the new film.

Thor: Ragnarok
Loki and Valkyrie engage in a knife fight in this new still from Entertainment Weekly.
In a separate article, Taiki Waititi cited 1980’s Flash Gordon as one of the film’s main influences.
I loved the kind of cosmic trippy vibe of the Thor comics. Another influence for me was Flash Gordon. I grew up loving that movie. … I’ve often said if Freddie Mercury were alive, I would have asked Queen to do the soundtrack. It just has that feel: it’s a cool bold, colourful cosmic adventure. And it just needed to be fun.
The Defenders
The latest clip reveals Stick has a history with Sigourney Weaver’s mysterious character, Alexandra.

Meanwhile, here’s a featurette on the team’s dynamics to tide you over until this weekend.
The Punisher
Jon Bernthal told Moviefone the biggest challenge in playing Frank Castle is to not make him appear “too heroic”.
It’s an interesting predicament. To put [the Punisher] as the central character is interesting; I think that my big struggle with him is that one of my biggest kind of things that I’m always fighting for on set is, I always want to preserve the essence of Frank, and have the right and be bold enough to really turn my back on the audience, and not do things to win the audience’s favour, but rather stay true to the character and the essence of who he is. So, I think that’s the real challenge: being bold enough to not make him too heroic, at least ‘heroic,’ is important to me. That being said, I think there’s Frank Castle inside of everybody, I think being a father and being a husband, he’s a character that I deeply empathise with.
The Haunting Of Hill House
Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser and Kate Siegel have joined the Netflix adaptation of the iconic ghost story in undisclosed roles, according to THR.
Quantum & Woody
The Wrap reports Joel McHale is in talks to play one half of the Valiant Comics duo — specifically Woody, the wisecracking jokester of the two titular brothers-turned-superheroes.
The X-Files
Deadline reports Barbara Hershey has been cast as Erika Price, “a powerful figure who represents a mysterious organisation” in the show’s eleventh season.
The Secret World
Johnny Depp’s production company Infinitum Nihil is looking to develop a TV series based on the video game The Secret World, an online game where players discovered and aligned themselves with factions such as the Illuminati, the Templar and various supernatural entities. James V. Hart (Hook), Jake Hart and Pamela Veasey (CSI: New York) will serve as showrunners.
