Even More Weird Details About The Rumoured New Fantastic Four Movie

Fantastic Four

Bleeding Cool claims to have more details on its previous rumour that a kids-focused Fantastic Four movie focusing on the children of Reed and Sue Richards, Franklin and Valeria, is in the works. Now according the site, the movie is, bizarrely, not going to be based on any particular Marvel comics, but is instead purportedly going to be based on Mark Millar and Curtis Tieg’s Kindergarten Heroes comic series. The comic, about a team of cutesy toddler superheroes, actually never went to print, but was optioned at Fox for a movie shortly after it was announced.

Allegedly, instead of turning Kindergarten Heroes‘ proposed story and characters into a movie, Fox wants to rework it into a Fantastic Four film, which was previously claimed as starring Franklin and Valeria alongside the Human Torch and the Thing for standalone, Incredibles-esque adventure fully removed from the world of the turgid FF reboot. As always, take reports like this with a pinch of salt.

Ant-Man & the Wasp

That Hashtag Show has another casting rumour, this time reporting that Sean Kleier has been cast in a “pivotal” but still currently undisclosed role. The outlet also claims Kleier’s character will be a duplicitous, undercover “mole” that will presumably betray Scott and Hope at some point in the film.

A People’s History of the Vampire Uprising

Star Trek Beyond writers JD Payne and Patrick MKay have been hired to write a film adaptation of the Raymond Villareal novel for 20th Century Fox. The novel — which will be published next month — recounts the oral history of the “Gloamings”, a race of vampires who have co-existed with humans throughout history. [Tracking Board]

Punch Escrow

THR reports the producers of Beauty & the Beast are backing an adaptation of the novel from Tal M. Klein to be directed by The Muppets‘ James Bobbin. The novel concerns a man who accidentally duplicates himself in a transporter accident while training AI systems to act more human.

The Happytime Murders

Deadline reports that Maya Rudolph has joined the cast of the upcoming murder mystery/comedy, which will integrate both puppets and humans. Her role is currently undisclosed.

Justice League Dark

That Hashtag Show reports Doctor Strange writer, Jon Spaights, is the latest in a long line to retool the screenplay for the supernatural team-up movie.

Mulan

Disney’s live-action Mulan begins filming in both China and New Zealand this January, according to the Omega Report.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Omega Underground reports the film’s shooting title is “Joshua Tree”, speculating that the title comes from Joshua Tree National Park in California, a potential shooting location for Tatooine in the movie.

Avengers: Infinity War

Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, Dave Baustista described the meeting between Star-Lord and Iron Man as “spontaneous combustion”.

I’m excited about some of the stuff we did, but I don’t know what’s going to make it in the film. I always thought there would be a lot of good interaction between Tony Stark and Drax, and there was. And Star-Lord and Tony Stark as well. When you put those two guys in a room together, it’s like a spontaneous combustion. Talk about two talented guys who are so witty and smart and honed-in on their craft. It was a spectacle, and I’m so excited I got to witness it firsthand.

Deadpool 2

Set footage of a beleaguered Deadpool, a giant panda, a train, a helicopter and a drone has been posted to YouTube.

Footage of the drone striking the giant, inflatable panda has also surfaced.

Jumper

Deadline reports Jamie Bell and Doctor Who‘s Julian Simpson are producing a TV series based on the 2008 teleportation film, Jumper. The site further adds that Bell could be reprising his role from the film as a a renegade “Jumper” — someone with the ability to teleport to a location at a moment’s notice — who hunts down the shadow organisation trying to wipe out people with jump powers.

Gotham

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer John Stephens revealed the hilariously undignified origin story of Butch’s transformation into Solomon Grundy:

He’s been in a vegetative state at Gotham General and so in order to clear up space for more beds, the administrators at the hospital have him dumped in Slaughter Swamp, as one does in Gotham. So he emerges reborn out of Slaughter Swamp as the character we know as Solomon Grundy.

Star Trek: Discovery

A new promo promoting Starfleet’s ideals of tolerance and peace has been added to CBS’s Instagram. Just how tolerant and peaceful this take on Starfleet remains to be seen however, as the advert also notes that this new Star Trek is apparently rated TV-MA – roughly equivalent to Australia’s R18+.

We come from a tradition of tolerance, freedom, and justice. #StarTrekDiscovery
