The Han Solo Movie Gives Us Our First Look At A New Kind Of Stormtrooper

Another New Mutant has been cast. Neill Blomkamp says he wants to make a District 9 sequel. Doctor Who spinoff Class faces a pretty dire future. Plus, a ton of new footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming, Transformers: The Last Knight and The Mummy, and new TV spots for The Dark Tower. To me, my spoilers!

Han Solo

Set footage reveals a Stormtrooper (who appears to be a new design, with a lighter set of armour similar to a Scout Trooper) riding Star Wars‘ blockiest speeder yet. Blockier than Rey’s, even, and her’s looked like a Fudgsicle.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Bradley Whitford has joined the cast in yet another undisclosed role. Man, the cast of this movie is as secretive as it is just plain weird. [THR]

New Mutants

According to The Hollywood Reporter, newcomer Blu Hunt has been officially cast as Dani Moonstar (AKA Psyche, later AKA Mirage), a Cheyenne mutant who can create illusions as well as use a host of other psionic powers.

Avengers: Infinity War

Winston Duke will reprise his role as M’Baku — also known as Man-Ape — for Infinity War… at least, according to the oft-dubious source that is IMDB.

The Predator

Filming has wrapped on Shane Black’s The Predator.

District 9 Sequel

Speaking with The Verge, Neill Blomkamp revealed he’s working on a follow-up to District 9.

With District 9, I plan on making another film in that world. To go back and work with WETA, and make the film would be cool, but anything that pre-exists like that may not be the best fit for whatever we’re trying here.

In the same interview, Blomkamp once again confirmed his Alien 5 is “dead”.

I think it’s totally dead, yes. That would be an accurate assumption at this point. It’s sad. I spent a long time working on that, and I feel like it was really pretty awesome. But politically, the way it’s gone now, and the way that it all is — it’s just not going to live.

Ridley [Scott] was one of my idols growing up. He’s so talented and he’s made this film that really set me off in a direction. I want to just be as respectful and not go stamping around in this world that he created. I think that if the circumstances were different, and I didn’t feel like I was getting too close to something that he obviously feels a massive personal connection to, that things that may have played out differently. But I did want to be as respectful as possible.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Here’s a 16-minute (!) featurette from the Disney Channel, covering virtually all aspects of the film — including The Vulture and Flash Thompson.

Transformers: The Last Knight

A new TV spot focuses on the Mini Dinobots.

Also, Cinemark Theatres has two new character posters.

We also have this poster from Germany.

And lastly, here’s an interactive 360 video giving details on what the Transformers have been up to between films.

The Mummy

Four new clips have been violently awakened.

The Dark Tower

Three new TV spots try to sell The Dark Tower as a superhero film. You buying?

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote

After 17 years and eight attempts, Terry Gilliam has finally finished filming his fantastical adventure film.

Stranger Things

Season two has wrapped filming, so here are some alarmingly fashionable kids on bikes to celebrate the occasion.

Creator/showrunner Patrick Ness has jumped ship from the Doctor Who spinoff — which most likely won’t see a second season, anyway.

Y: The Last Man

Brian K. Vaughn gave CBR a brief update on Y‘s current permutation as an FX series.

I recently read a phenomenal draft of the Y: The Last Man pilot by Michael Green for FX. Should have some very cool news about another adaptation soon.

Blood Drive

Here’s the second trailer for Syfy’s new series about blood-fuelled cars in the post-apocalypse.

Liv eats the brains of Ravi’s former sex partner in the synopsis for the first part of “Looking for Mr Goodbrain”, the season three finale.

When Liv (Rose McIver) consumes the brains of someone from Ravi’s (Rahul Kohli) past, not only does it have her wanting to sleep with every guy in Seattle, she also begins having some very intimate visions of Ravi. Meanwhile, Major (Robert Buckley) is faced with a huge decision.

Doctor Who

Finally, here’s the trailer for this week’s Doctor Who, “Empress of Mars”, featuring the Ice Warriors and Victorian soldiers being crumpled into some nasty-looking shapes by their weapon.
