The first trailer for The Lowe Files feels like an unabashed sendup of everything that’s come to define the CW’s Supernatural series. You’ve got two brothers learning to hunt mysterious cryptids from their father, road trips, and a classic rock song soundtracking the entire affair. Together, the Lowe boys wander out into the wilderness in search of ghosts and other fun beasties like “wood-apes.”
“Any time the phrase ‘Rob Lowe investigates wood apes is in the zeitgeist, you know you’re in for a special treat,” Lowe told Entertainment Weekly. “If you put Anthony Bourdain in a blender with Scooby Doo, you’d get the tone of this show.”
