First War For The Planet Of The Apes Clip Shows Caesar Taking Pity On His Human Enemies

Video: As its title implies, Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes will finally see the franchise’s superintelligent primates waging all-out war on their human oppressors. In the first official clip for the movie, though, we see Caesar (Andy Serkis) choosing to take pity on a defenceless human. Chump.

In “Meet Nova”, Caesar and a group of his fellow apes who are on a secret mission come across Nova (Amiah Miller), a non-verbal human orphan who’s seemingly grown up in the wild on her own. While the apes know that their bringing the girl with them will only put them all in danger, that same compassion that Will Rodman taught Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes compels them to protect her.

“I understand [that we cannot take her],” Caesar’s right hand orangutan Maurice explains. “But I cannot leave her.”

War for the Planet of the Apes hits theatres 27 July 2017.
