Video: An animated adaptation of beloved kids’ book The Story of Ferdinand will be hitting theatres this December, and the main character — a bull who prefers flowers to fighting — is being voiced by longtime WWE A-lister/perennial heavyweight champ John Cena. He’s there… you just can’t see him.

Directed by Carlos Saldanha and starring Kate McKinnon, Daveed Diggs, David Tennant, Anthony Anderson and others, Ferdinand updates the classic story originally created by author Munro Leaf and illustrator Robert Lawson. In the movie, Ferdinand’s still a bull who isn’t into being aggro, but in this version, he’s taken to a farm full of other critters (friendly and otherwise), where he’s apparently being groomed for a bullfight.
Ferdinand’s story has been adapted to film before, in a 1938 Disney cartoon.
This new trailer looks like dozens of other teasers for kids’ movies: A wacky team of misfits, sight gags galore, and the obligatory dance/sass sequence. We’ll see if it’s any good this summer.
