NECA San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Predator Jungle Briefing Dutch Figure
Commemorating one of the greatest handshakes in the history of cinema, NECA also celebrates the 30th anniversary of Predator with this Jungle Briefing Dutch 18cm articulated figure. It features a casual Schwarzenegger in cargo pants, a polo shirt, and five o’clock shadow. Available at Comic-Con for $US30 ($39), the figure will be limited to just 3000 pieces, but also available at the NECA online store if you can’t make it to San Diego. [Twitter – NECA]
Skybound Entertainment and McFarlane Toys San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive The Walking Dead Shiva Force Boxset
Inspired by GI Joe action figures, GI Joe packaging, and the GI Joe toy commercials of the ’80s, Skybound Entertainment and McFarlane Toys have created the Shiva Force boxset. Available at Comic-Con but limited to just 1000 pieces, the $US100 ($131) set includes 13cm figures for Rick Grimes, Michonne, Ezekiel and Shiva the tiger. [YouTube via Toy News International]
Mezco X-Men Deadpool
It’s hard to imagine Wade Winston Wilson, better known as Deadpool, following the rules and toeing the line as one of the X-Men. But following a bet with Wolverine in the Cable & Deadpool comic series, he briefly donned the classic blue and yellow X-Men uniform, and the look kind of works for him. For San Diego Comic-Con, Mezco has immortalised this moment with a 16cm Deadpool figure featuring 30 points of articulation, a mountain of weapon accessories, and a steep $US80 ($105) price tag. But if you aren’t headed to San Diego you’re out of luck, as it only ships to the US. A mail forwarding service might help, though. The figure is available for pre-order now. [Mezco Toys]
Marvel Knights Legends Series with Man-Thing Build-A-Figure
Who among us didn’t grow up pining for an action figure of a scientist who ended up merging with a swamp after a horrific accident? Hasbro’s new Man-Thing figure looks gigantic and wonderfully detailed, but to add him to your collection you’ll need to buy all six of the company’s new 15cm Marvel Knights Legends series figures — Daredevil, Bullseye, Blade, Elektra, Jessica Jones and the Punisher — who each include a piece of Man-Thing. Crunch the numbers and you’ll need to save up $US120 ($157) by spring when these will be officially available.
Wonder Woman Life-Size Foam Figure
Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman was the massive hit that DC Comics desperately needed, and if you really enjoyed Gal Gadot’s portrayal of the Princess of Themyscira — like, really enjoyed it — you can now get a life-size foam figure for your home, office, or anywhere you kinda of want to creep people out. Standing at 1.85m tall, the hand-painted figure isn’t articulated, but features synthetic hair, plus appropriate battle accessories. Hollywood Collectibles Group Lifesize Edward Scissorhands Prop Replica
With what has to be one of the most dangerous prop replicas ever created, Hollywood Collectibles Group has revealed a lifesize version of Edward Scissorhands’ namesake appendages. Recreated using actual aluminium for the finger blades, the pair of hands come mounted to a numbered display base because only 500 of these sets are being produced. Some might be upset to hear that the $US800 ($1049) replicas can’t actually be worn, but the rest of us are happy no one’s going to injure anyone with these at a costume party. Funko Rick & Morty Portal Gun Replica
Most of the time a strategically dropped smoke bomb is all one really needs to escape an awkward situation. But other times you don’t only need to get out of sight, you need to hop into another galaxy, which is where Funko’s replica of Rick & Morty’s portal gun will become immeasurably useful. It lights up, plays dimension-hopping sound effects, and will only set you back $US15 ($20) when it officially arrives in November. Star Trek Phaser Rubber Band Gun
There is no shortage of elaborate rubber band blasters available on Etsy, but DecolorisShop raises the bar with this laser-cut wooden Star Trek-inspired Phaser that can send two elastics hurtling towards Klingons, Romulans or Cardassians. Millennium Falcon Violin
You haven’t truly heard John Williams’ Star Wars score until you’ve heard it played on a light-up Millennium Falcon violin. This custom instrument was created by Richard Symons who started with an actual old violin (which happened to be used as set dressing on the recent Paddington movie) to which he added all the recognisable features of the Millennium Falcon. The only thing missing is strings, which sadly means you can’t actually play this instrument, making its $950.70 price tag even harder to swallow. [Etsy via Sci-fi Design]
