Video: Girl meets boy at a raucous music festival, and they fall in love as colourful debauchery rages around them. Kibwe Tavares’ short film Robot & Scarecrow would be a lovely if somewhat unremarkable tale of romance, except for the fact that the girl is literally a robot and the boy is actually a scarecrow.
Further complicating matters — as if their forms weren’t enough of a challenge — is the fact that the robot’s battery is dying, which means she is, too. The special effects used for Robot & Scarecrow‘s CG-enhanced characters are remarkably seamless; stay for the end credits to see the actors in their motion-capture outfits.
