Somehow, Hitler Riding A T.Rex Isn’t Nearly As Amusing As It Used To Be

Video: In Iron Sky: The Coming Race, Hitler rides a T.rex. Back in 2014, when the first trailer for the movie came out, including the same scenario, it was an idea ridiculous enough to be kind of funny. Nowadays, with Nazis seemingly everywhere in pop culture and on the actual fringes of politics, it’s no longer particularly amusing.

The reason we bring it up is because a new trailer for the sequel to 2012’s Iron Sky was released Tuesday:

The first film was about a group of Nazis who fled to the Moon after World War II and built up their offence to attack the Earth decades later. In the sequel, the surface of the Earth has been buried after a nuclear war, and what remains of humanity lives on the Moon. But they will be forced to go back when it’s revealed the key to their salvation may be buried amid the destruction. Which… you don’t get a lot of from the trailer. What you do get is that the enemies in The Coming Race are the Vril, shapeshifting reptiles who command an army of dinosaurs. And apparently, count Hitler among their allies, as the trailer above and the poster below both indicate:

Somehow, Hitler Riding A T.Rex Isn’t Nearly As Amusing As It Used To Be

You know what you’re getting with a movie like this: Grand, effects-driven stupidity, with an over-the-top story and performances. And as long as it delivers that, fans are happy. They will get to see it when Iron Sky: The Coming Race is released in the US next February 14. An Australian release date has not yet been announced.
