It’s always exciting to see how the borscht gets made, and a recent VFX reel for Russia’s failed superhero film Guardians delivers on the one thing I could ever want: A guy fighting baddies in a giant bear hat.

Also, there’s apparently a plot? I’m sorry, I was distracted by the giant bear with the giant gun strapped to his back.”]
Forget Andy Serkis in Lord of the Rings of the new Planet of the Apes series, there’s a new king in town. This might be the single-greatest motion capture work of all time. Sure, the effects themselves look subpar and probably look even worse on the big screen, but for the love of Man-Bear-Pig… the guy is wearing a giant bear hat.
The movie came out in February, but sadly not even Man-Bear could save it. It was met with horrible reviews in Russia (mostly saying the story was boring and the special effects lacklustre), and while it originally debuted at the top of the box office, it quickly declined and is considered a box office bomb.
