Win! Join Us On Qantas’s First Flight With Wi-Fi

Next Monday, Qantas’s first plane with in-flight Wi-Fi and internet access will take to the skies. We’ll be onboard, live-blogging away and running Gizmodo from 40,000 feet.

And so could you!

UPDATE: Entires are now closed! You can see who won here.

(The being onboard bit, that is, not the running Gizmodo bit. We wouldn’t do that to you.)

In partnership with Qantas, we want to offer you and a friend the chance to fly on Qantas’s special charter flight QF6160 — flying out of Sydney’s Kingsford-Smith domestic airport on Monday 27th March at 11AM for a two-hour zoom around the skies of New South Wales, before returning to land at Sydney at 1PM.

You’ll get the chance to put Qantas’s in-flight Wi-Fi to the test on your two-hour journey — Qantas has partnered with Netflix, Stan, Foxtel and Spotify to offer streaming video while you’re flying, or you can just jump on Facebook or Instagram or YouTube or any other web browsing you might normally do while you’re on the ground.

Qantas’s in-flight Wi-Fi uses the National Broadband Network’s Sky Muster satellites, and that means each passenger can expect speeds that are 10 times faster than the airborne wireless ‘net of other airlines worldwide. Fast enough to stream video, fast enough to send a Snapchat, fast enough to stream a Facebook Live video.

And we want you to try it out for us!

(You’ll need to be in Sydney on Monday morning, obviously, to take advantage of this prize. We’re opening this competition up to any Australian entrant, but you’ll just need to make sure you’re at Sydney Airport before 10AM on Monday 27th March.)

Entering into our prize draw is almost too simple — all you have to do is tell us in the comments section below: in 25 words or less, what would you do to put Qantas’s in-flight wi-fi to the ultimate test?

Make sure you enter your correct email address when you’re leaving a comment — whether it’s as a guest or a registered user — so we can get in touch with you if you win.

Our competition commences at 12:01PM AEDT on the 21st March 2017 and closes at 12:01PM AEDT on 23rd March 2017, and we’ll pick and announce winners at 12:30PM AEDT on this Thursday too — then we’ll be in touch. You can find our full terms and conditions here.

Good luck!
