Gwendoline Christie joins the Darkest Minds adaptation. Laura Dern offers the vaguest of hints about her role in The Last Jedi. Assassin’s Creed is heading to television. Plus, a boatload of new Transformers posters, a new set picture from Infinity War, and new pictures from Orphan Black‘s final season. Spoilers now!
Han Solo
Woody Harrelson appeared on yesterday’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and briefly described his character — confirming previous reports that he plays a “criminal and mentor to Han Solo”. But Harrelson did offer one new tidbit: His character’s name is Beckett. Check out the full interview below, but the Star Wars stuff is largely in the first half.
The Pro
Paramount is adapting the comic by Garth Ennis, Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti about a sex worker given supernatural powers by intergalactic beings into a movie. [Deadline]
Darkest Minds
Gwendoline Christie has joined the cast of the adaptation of Alexandra Bracken’s YA novel series. She’ll play a bounty hunter who targets teenagers with super powers in a plague-ravaged, post-apocalyptic US. [THR]
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Coming Soon has the IMAX poster.
In related news, Chris Pratt posted a message on his official Facebook page allegedly written by his character, Star-Lord. The big news here is that Peter Quill does not hyphenate his own moniker. Have some standards, Quill.
On May 5th the greatest movie in the history of movies is coming. There has never been and will never again be a movie like this. Seriously. Ever heard of Citizen Kane? We’re much better. Seriously. Our movie just tested at over one million points. Rotten tomatoes already has it at 234% fresh. #GotGVol2 will win every movie award AND about 39 Olympic gold medals in swimming, gymnastics, the skiiing event with the gun, x games, snowmobiling and everything. It will win the World Cup and about 7 super bowl rings, sorry TOM Brady. This movie will fry your brains and lift your spirits. James Gunn will be elected president of the world. They will add the faces of the guardians to Mount Rushmore for sure. We’re gonna get a planet. May 5th will become a national holiday. Everyone will get pregnant. Candy will fall from the sky. Global warming will stop. Dinosaurs will come back to life. Which unlike some movies might tell you, is actually a really good thing. Because they won’t flip out and kill people instead they will be your awesome pets. So basically get your tickets as soon as you can. Don’t be the only person on the planet who doesn’t see this movie.
Humbly,
Starlord
Avengers: Infinity War
A set pic of Vision from the film’s shoot in Edinburgh has surfaced on Reddit. You’ll have to go to the link to see it, but don’t expect much info other than Paul Bettany traipsing the cobbled streets in costume.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Laura Dern appeared on Watch What Happens to take questions about Star Wars and Twin Peaks she’s forbidden to answer verbally, instead replying with facial expressions. It was a bit, but if Ms Dern can be trusted, her character in The Last Jedi is not a political rival of Leia’s. Or she is! It’s hard to tell. If that is the case, it’d clash a little with reports we’ve heard about Dern’s character being a rival Resistance officer that eventually tussles with Leia and Poe about how to deal with the Order.
Transformers: The Last Knight
Here’s a fairly esoteric IMAX poster for the new Transformers movie, heralding the arrival of Dragonstorm. (And maybe Unicron…?)
Strap yourself in, because here come the motion posters. A lot of motion posters.

Captain Underpants
Here’s the first trailer for the Captain Underpants movie, which spends most of its running time explaining the premise.
Wish Upon
And here’s another trailer for the Wishmaster-meets-Hellraiser horror film about an overly literal magical artefact.
Assassin’s Creed
A TV series is in development, according to Ubisoft’s Aymar Azaiza in a recent Reddit AMA. Presumably, it will be unlinked to the events of the film after its flop late last year.
It’s like the movie guys, we will take our time, to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of, but if you wonder if it’s on our plan… YES.
Supergirl
Expect more Lena Luthor in Supergirl’s future, as Katie McGrath will be promoted to series regular beginning with the show’s third season. [TV Line]
Meanwhile, Jimmy Olsen is getting his own spotlight episode before the season is through, according to Andrew Kreisberg (via TV Line):
There’s a big James episode coming up that we’re starting to shoot this week. It’s, like, the biggest James story we’ve ever done. We’re excited, Mehcad [Brooks] is excited…. It’s going to be great.
Twin Peaks
David Lynch revealed to GQ “there isn’t really a need” for the show’s 217th member cast to be clued in on the whole story.
There isn’t really a need to have everybody read the whole script. So they get their scenes. And when we work together, they ask many questions, and they get answers.
Orphan Black
The first batch of images from the upcoming final season have been released.
Legends of Tomorrow
Marc Guggenheim tweeted out a picture of the Legion of Doom’s iconic headquarters from next week’s alternate timeline episode. Regrettably, it is no longer located in a barren swamp.
