Marvel’s Giant Teleporting Dog Lockjaw Will Star In Inhumans, And Now We’re Really Excited

After spending the week slowly eking out casting news for its Inhumans TV show, Marvel has finally announced the rest of the cast for the new series on US channel ABC. But it also buried the lede a bit, because right under that new cast list was the reveal that beloved Inhuman pooch Lockjaw will be in the series.

Throughout the week, we’ve learned that Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Queen Medusa (Serinda Swan), Maximus (Iwan Rheon) and Karnak (Ken Leung) will all be part of the main cast of the hybrid show/movie event the long-in-the-works Inhumans project has transformed into.

But now Marvel has formally announced the rest of its main cast:

  • Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, the Inhuman’s military chief, an Inhuman with super strong hooved legs than he can use to create shockwaves
  • Isabelle Cornish as Inhuman Princess Crystal, sister to Medusa and capable of controlling the elements
  • Mike Moh as Triton, a fish-like scaled Inhuman who can live underwater
  • Sonya Balmores as Auran, the head of the Royal Family’s guards
  • Ellen Woglam as an undisclosed character, described by Marvel as a space-obsessed employee at an aerospace company, who is “smart, intense, and focused — so focused that oftentimes, social skills take a back seat.”

But they aren’t the important news here — what is is the confirmation today that Lockjaw himself will be in the show. A giant, doglike creature that’s been part of the Inhumans’ story in the comics since 1965, Lockjaw is the royal escort to the Inhuman Royal Family, and also one of their most important transportation methods: because aside from precognition and superstrength, Lockjaw can teleport. That’s right. He’s a big ol’ freaky-looking Inhuman doggie that can pop through the fabric of reality itself.

He’s the best. And, his inclusion offers a very clear indication that the Inhumans TV show is going all out in bringing these characters and the world of New Attilan to life. I mean, it does take a certain amount of conviction to bring a 900kg teleporting dog to network TV, right? Inhumans is expected to hit ABC later this year, following an IMAX movie debut of the first two episodes this September.
