Casting News For Inhumans, The X-Men TV Show And More

It’s a casting blowout as another member of Inhuman royalty joins the TV show, Matt Nix’s X-Men series casts its female lead, and Black Lightning finds some super-powered siblings. Plus, what might tempt Patrick Stewart back to playing Professor X, and when to expect the return of Game of Thrones. To me, my spoilers!

Casting News For Inhumans, The X-Men TV Show And More

Deadpool 2

Patrick Stewart seemingly reneged on his recent comments about retiring the role of Charles Xavier during a Facebook interview with MTV:

I would have said yes, but the discussion just now about Deadpool makes me think, well, maybe there is a proper justification for the revival of Charles Xavier.

In related news, The Wrap reports that Stranger Things‘ David Harbour is in the running to play Cable — and Marvel is even footing the bill for a screen test. He joins the very, very long line of people suggested to play Cable in this movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

That scene of Drax slurping soup used to tease the most recent trailer has actually been cut from the final film, according to James Gunn:

Beauty & the Beast

The cast and crew discuss Belle’s strength of character in a new featurette.

Alien: Covenant

A “new” red band version of the latest trailer has been released — but there’s not actually much new to it, outside of a couple of shots of flayed victims around 1:47, and a line near the end gets an added “fuck”. So bear that in mind if you’re in a public space or whatnot!

X-Men

A trio of new casting announcements have been made for Matt Nix’s upcoming series. Amy Acker joins the cast as the series’ female lead Kate Stewart, the mother of the family forced into hiding when they discover that their children are mutants.

Meanwhile, Emma Dumont has been cast as Lorna Dane, the magnetic mutant Polaris, and Percy Hynes White will play Andy, a “sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home.” Presumably, Andy is one of the kids in the main family of the show, but that’s not explicitly confirmed. Inhumans

Ken Leung has been cast as everyone’s favourite (and Coming Soon]

Black Lightning

Deadline reports that Nafessa Williams and China Anne McClain have joined the series as daughters of protagonist Jefferson Pierce. Williams will play older daughter Anissa, a “passionate and quick-witted” young woman balancing medical studies and part-time teaching, while McClain will play Jennifer, a school athlete with a “wild streak” of her own.

In some versions of the comics, both Anissa and Jennifer become superheroes in the own rights — as Thunder and Lightning, respectively.

Game of Thrones

Speaking to the Independent, Liam Cunningham seemingly confirmed that the show won’t be returning until July for its next, seven-episode-long season:

I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It’s July now, I think. There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and [filming for] the final season starts again as far as I know in September.

DuckTales

The revival of the series has already been renewed for a second season. Woo-oo! [TV Line]

The Flash

Here’s a press release for the musical crossover episode with Supergirl, “Duet.”

Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon-El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her.

However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can’t cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end.

Legends of Tomorrow

The Legends meet JRR Tolkien in the synopsis for “Fellowship of the Spear,” because of course that’s the name of this episode.

The Legends must devise a plan to retrieve the last remaining fragments of the Spear of Destiny from the Legion of Doom. They find themselves in France at the height of World War I faced with the knowledge that they must destroy the mystical object. They enlist the help of a soldier by the name of John Ronald Reuel Tolkin (guest star Jack Turner) and find that the Spear is leading them into the heart of the war.

Agents of SHIELD

Some set dressing from location filming has hit the web, further teasing the show’s new “status quo” of the Framework, a world where Hydra is ascendant.
