Video: A lot of blockbusters are unveiling new trailers this week — but on the other end of the budget and hype spectrum is Hasraf “HaZ” Dulull’s indie sci-fi film The Beyond, which just dropped its own first trailer. It’s about robotically enhanced astronauts who travel through a wormhole, ominously dubbed “the Void”.

Uh, guys… that didn’t work out so well in Event Horizon. Will these high-tech adventurers fare any better? Dulull’s background is in visual effects; his credits include The Dark Knight and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Judging from this first peek, filled with fantastical shots of outer space, The Beyond will rely heavily on its writer-director-editor’s skills in that realm.
The Beyond, which is set in the very near future, aims to pick up distribution by making the festival and film-market rounds.
