Happy Second Birthday, Netflix Australia

Last Friday was Netflix Australia’s second birthday.

This post is the equivalent of flowers from a petrol station.

Yes, we forgot. We’re sorry, Netflix. But we still love you.

In the last two years, Netflix in Australia has gone from strength to strength. We’ve seen some great new features — like offline downloads! — and some awesome original series like Stranger Things and co-productions like Travelers.

Netflix’s catalogue in Australia might not be as comprehensive as it is in the US, but it’s still chock full of some great programming. Without Netflix, we probably wouldn’t have The Expanse in Australia, for example; we might not have The Force Awakens, we defintely wouldn’t have Chef’s Table or Jessica Jones or Luke Cage.

For $8.99 per month, it’s honestly a bloody bargain. How do they do it for the price?

Here’s to another two years!

The popular streaming service has already dramatically expanded its 4K HDR content – and there’s a lot more to come in the months ahead. Last year, we were invited to check out the company’s state-of-the-art colour correction suite in New York where Netflix Originals receive a fresh lick of digital paint in the HDR conversion process.”]

The feature, which users have been asking for FOR YEARS, has been rumoured to be in the works since June. Back in November, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos alluded to the feature in an interview with CNBC, but it seemed like it might only be targeted at countries without solid internet access.”]

And it has worked.”]
