Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Having proven time and time again that she’s great at playing spooky kidsmums, Vera Farmiga has joined the cast as Millie Bobby Brown’s mother. [Variety]

Deadpool 2

Russell Crowe had a recent back-and-forth on Twitter with Rob Liefeld about potentially reading for the role of Cable. Crow took umbrage to the idea of “reading” for any role, causing Liefeld to apologise. The long saga of just who the hell is playing Cable in this movie and beyond continues!

Gotham City Sirens

As noted by Coming Soon, David Ayer “vague posted” a picture of Black Mask, leading some to believe the character will be the villain of the upcoming Gotham City Sirens movie. A Gotham mob boss with a black, skull-like mask literally melted to his face, Roman “Black Mask” Sionis leads a cadre of mask-wearing criminals called The False Face Society, who, if nothing else, would certainly be inexpensive to film at least.

Gambit

Simon Kinberg swears to the One-Above-All that the Gambit film is still happening. Soon. Ish. Really.

Yeah, it is going to happen, and it’s just a question… Channing is, in the best possible way, as committed and as rigorous about getting the character right as Ryan was with Deadpool and as Hugh was with Logan on this movie, and so it’s been about finding a filmmaker and someone who can capture that voice and hand it off to Channing. But he’s been a really critical part of the process, and we’re hoping that the movie, probably given his schedule, will be ready to go this year and probably shoot next year.

The LEGO Movie 2

Chris McKay, while visiting the Shanlian on Batman podcast, revealed the LEGO sequel will be a “space action” (in Benny’s case, shouldn’t that be space, space, SPACE action?) movie with lots of musical numbers.

LEGO 2 is going to be this big musical and space action movie. They need a lot of the writing, a lot of development, not only with script development, but development with songwriters. So it was very ambitious to get that movie out.

Power Rangers

After 10,000 years, a Rita Repulsa TV spot!

And here’s another.

Ghost in the Shell

Paramount has blessed us with a bunch of new character “motion” posters.

Jurassic World 2

Bryce Dallas Howard has begun filming on the sequel.

Agents of SHIELD

The show’s new virtual reality setting of “The Framework” has already brought back Brett Dalton as former SHIELD Agent, Hydra Operative and Inhuman-controlling Hive host Grant Ward — but could it bring another past agent back?

Comicbook.com noticed that the series’ upcoming cast list on IMDb — so salt shakers at the ready — has been updated to include Eric Watson, a stunt double credited as a stand in for B.J. Britt, who played fallen agent Antoine “Trip” Triplett before he died at the end of season two. Given that it’s IMDb, which can be edited by anyone, it’s best to remain sceptical: But hey, it’s not like the show isn’t beyond using this Framework setting to bring back some old friends already, so it could happen.

Incorporated

Bad news — Syfy has cancelled the future-set corporate espionage series after just one season. [Deadline]

X-Men TV Series

Stephen Moyer has joined the cast in one of the series’ lead roles: Reed, a father who learns his children are mutants and joins an underground network of mutant resistance fighters to protect them. [TV Line]

Doomsday

Rachel Lafevre has joined the cast of a new hour-long drama that sounds a hell of a lot like the old BBC series, Doomwatch. Doomsday focuses on a secret government thinktank monitoring man-made disaster scenarios while speculating on how to curtail them. Like Doomwatch!

Lafevre stars as Faye, the “whip-smart” and “shrewd” Deputy Director of Homeland Security. According to the press release, she sees her coterie of scientists as “reckless, walking liabilities who have personally compromised our nation’s security”. [TV Line]

Star Trek: Discovery

According to CBS chairman Les Moonves, you can expect to see the new series — which was expected to have actually started airing around about now — “sometime late summer, early fall”. So late winter, early spring in Australia. We’ll be waiting, Mr Moonves. [TV Line]

Supergirl

According to Andrew Kreisberg, Mon-El’s true identity will be revealed in the sixteenth episode of season two and it’s “going to cause problems”.

He also revealed the box Lillian was peering into will play a role in the season finale, and that Winn’s new girlfriend, Lynn, will become the Yoko Ono of his crime-fighting career with Jimmy Olsen.

The three of them try crimefighting as a trio, which doesn’t necessarily go well. She kind of becomes the Yoko of the team.

The Vampire Diaries

Pictures have been released for the series finale, the wistfully titled, “I Was Feeling Epic”. See the rest at the link. [Buddy TV]

Here’s a teaser for the episode.

Grimm

Evil comes to Portland, Oregon in the synopsis for 6×12, “Zerstorer Shrugged”.

The prophecy that was uncovered comes to pass when a dark force arrives in Portland with its eyes set on Diana (guest star Hannah R. Loyd). In an effort to protect her, Nick (David Giuntoli), along with Capt. Renard (Sasha Roiz) and Adalind (Claire Coffee), returns to the scene of his first investigation as a Grimm. Back at the Spice Shop, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) make a discovery that uncovers the origins of the mysterious stick. Meanwhile, Hank (Russell Hornsby) and Wu (Reggie Lee) are called to a crime scene that is connected to the gang’s greatest threat.

Powerless

One of Wonder Woman’s oldest (and shortest) enemies debuts in episode seven, “Emergency Punch-Up”.

In need of some real R&R, the team gears up to leave for a company retreat when supervillain Dr. Psycho releases a toxic gas in Charm City. Now stuck in the Wayne Security offices, Emily (Vanessa Hudgens) does her best to make the most of a terrible situation.

[Spoiler TV]

Iron Fist

Finally, Netflix has released a bunch of new promotional photos from the series — including cameos from Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Daredevil characters. Check out a bunch more at the link. [Coming Soon]
