Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Making Star Wars has a new report discussing the First Order’s answer to the Imperial AT-AT Walker, which sounds like someone took an AT-AT and cranked every dial up to 11 and beyond. Nearly twice the size of the Imperial model, the First Order’s walker — which has the much clunkier name of “First Order Heavy Assault Walker” — is not actually the walker first spotted on Starkiller base in The Force Awakens. These walkers, aside from being humongous, will also be much more heavily armoured, with the report describing them as having extremely thick legs in order to avoid the weaknesses of AT-ATs shown in Rogue One and Empire Strikes Back.

To boot, the site also mentions that several of the Heavy Assault Walkers will take part in a “large sequence” during the film — presumably a large ground battle.

The Predator

Edward James Olmos has joined the cast as an undisclosed “military character” in the new movie. [THR]

Colin Farrell is in talks to join the film as as Holt, a widowed father of two kids from Kentucky who befriends Dumbo in the movie. Really! [Deadline]

Avengers: Infinity War

A casting call has been released looking for extras to film in New York. Presumably as backing for some wanton destruction that, say, requires a lot of Marvel characters to come together to stop it?

MALES & FEMALES — Any ethnicity, who appear 18 — 50’s, all types. Especially needed are people with New York looks, and also people with good character faces. Filming is tentatively scheduled for May 19, 2017. A wardrobe fitting could possibly be required in the beginning of May. You must have an open and flexible schedule, as the dates are very tentative at the moment. If you have previously worked on this film in any area, your are NOT eligible to be considered for these new roles. This is for NEW TALENT only, who have not worked on the film.

Venom

My Entertainment World has a production listing for Venom, stating the film will shoot this spinrg — which makes a lot of sense, as Sony is expecting this movie out next year. The genre is listed as action/horror/sci-fi, if you were surprised that a film about a rage-laden parasite from outer space would be linked to those genres. [Screen Rant]

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Chris Pratt goofs around on set with Kurt Russell in a new behind-the-scenes video.

In related news, James Gunn spoke to Fandango about the film’s even-more-awesome-than-the-original opening title sequence:

We have a lot of very long effects shots, too. Our opening credits are all to a musical piece, and those opening credits are all one long, huge shot with a lot of practical elements and a lot of special effect elements, and that’s something we finished on the first day of shooting and it still is not totally done yet.

Gunn also states the MCU character he’d most like to integrate into the cast is… Wilson Fisk?

The one guy I would love to bring into outer space is the Kingpin from the Daredevil TV show, so I don’t know if I’d want to bring an Avenger into outer space. But I wouldn’t mind bringing Wilson Fisk up there to see what he would do in outer space.

Suddenly I want to see Vincent D’onofrio angrily flip tables iiin spaaaace.

Meanwhile, the latest TV spot reminds you tickets are available for pre-order.

Riverdale

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has revealed to EW the show will be going full-blown supernatural in season two:

There definitely will be a big genre element to Season 2. It won’t suddenly just be a coming-of-age drama. There will definitely be a very strong, bold genre statement.

According to Aguirre-Sacas, Sabrina the Teenage Witch potentially joining the show’s universe is still very much on the table, presumably because of this upcoming “bold genre statement”, too:

I feel like I can say two things: One is, we are constantly talking about Sabrina and how to update her character and introduce her to the TV audiences, whether it’s part of the Riverdale universe or it’s alongside the Riverdale universe. Hopefully sooner rather than later, there will be something to do with Sabrina. And the other thing I will say is that in the finale there is an appearance of a character from the Archie mythology that has a darker origin and backstory.

I talk about it all the time because it’s my obsession. [Laughs] I love that character and obviously I also write The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic book. It’s sort of like, you know how there’s the Arrow-verse and then there’s Supergirl, which kind of exists in a different universe — they still cross over, but they’re in a different universe. I think there’s a lot of ways to skin the Sabrina cat, and I’m talking about them all the time basically to anyone who will listen.

Grimm

Dave Giuntoli spoke to TV Line about the series finale.

It ends. There’s no like ‘what happened’ ambiguity. It is fully spelled out for you. People will be happy.

We play with — this is a tease I haven’t given anyone — the fabric of space-time in a way we have not yet seen. Imagine you’re riding on a ray of light. [Laughs] Yes, we play with time. You’re going to see the future, and you’re going to see time jumps.
