The Fifth And Final Season Of Orphan Black Starts In June

The clone thriller Orphan Black just set a date for its fifth and final season: June 10 on BBC America in the US.

Once again, Tatiana Maslany returns as multiple clones of the same person, all of whom play into an elaborate thriller/mystery that’s stretched over four seasons. The show turned Maslany into a star and has garnered a sizable fan following.

Back at Comic-Con, co-creator Graeme Manson talked about why the fifth season was going to be the last one. “We always sort of had five seasons in mind, and the thing that we just didn’t want to do is get kind of soft around the middle,” he said. “We really think that it’s cooler to cancel yourself than to get canceled, than to peter out.”

The other co-creator, John Fawcett, then teased what fans would see.”The focus of season five, obviously, is we all want answers, goddammit,” he said. “Much as planning the final season is bittersweet,” he added, “the fun is knowing the ending. Because we’ve known it for a long time. So that’s pretty cool.”

At the center of the season will be the big mystery of how Neolution founder P.T. Westmoreland is still alive, as revealed at the end of the fourth season.

We’ll start to find out in June. The Australian release date has not yet been announced.
