Razer’s Latest Blade Laptop Is Now On Sale In Australia

Slim laptops with half-decent dedicated graphics are hard to come by. Slim gaming laptops that look good are harder again. Beyond Alienware and its ilk, we’ve always been fans of Razer’s skinny Blade — and now you can buy the latest hardware update of the 14-inch machine in Australia.

The latest iteration of the 17.9mm-thick Blade packs in a seventh-gen Intel i7-7700HQ quad-core CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics as well as 16GB of DDR4 RAM.

Intel’s latest chips aren’t much more efficient than last year’s, but it’s the graphics that consumes a lot less battery power than the previous energy-sapping 900-series. The Razer Blade has a sizeable 70Wh battery, but 3D gaming draws a lot of power; where we wouldn’t even bother trying to game without being connected to power on an older laptop, it’s actually possible these days.

You’ll have your choice of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of solid-state storage, and the top-tier models also swap out the 14-inch display from a 1920x1080pixel matte one to 3840x2160pixel one — itself also a multi-touch touchscreen.

All the other goodies we’ve come to expect from Razer’s compact gaming laptops come out to play as before, too; the Blade’s keyboard has customisable Chroma RGB lighting, there’s three full-size USB 3.0 ports as well as Thunderbolt 3 over the USB-C connector, and the Wi-Fi chip is from Killer.

The base 256GB, 1080p Blade will start at $2799.95 in Australia, while the 512GB and 1TB variants will be $3099.95 and $3699.95 respectively. At the moment, there’s no pricing available for the 4K touchscreen model.

Razer tells us an early-bird pre-sale for the new Blade will kick off for Aussie buyers from 1PM today. [Razer]
