Deadpool 2

There’s more behind-the-scenes confusion in store for Wade Wilson’s sophomore outing. After initially reporting that writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and been pulled off the script for the sequel and replaced by Drew Goddard, Collider now reports that the duo — who wrote the first film — are still heavily involved with creating the script for Deadpool 2, as is star Ryan Reynolds. Goddard has allegedly been brought on to work with Reese and Wernick on the script as a consultant, as the team race to finalise a script they’re happy with.

Metal Gear Solid

Jordon Vogt Roberts offers a minor update on his adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s tactical espionage action series, mainly to confirm that it is indeed still happening, while discussing how the film has to nail the tone of the series just right:

Everyone understands that it would be such an easy thing to do wrong. It would be so easy to sort of say, Metal Gear Solid is Mission: Impossible. It’s not. Metal Gear Solid is G.I. Joe. It’s not. Metal Gear Solid is X. It’s not. Metal Gear Solid is Metal Gear Solid. There’s nothing like Metal Gear Solid on the planet tonally, visually, in terms of characters. Like the characters are walking philosophies. There is nothing like the voice of that game and it’s so idiosyncratic to Kojima. And to his team. And unlike comic books that have had writers, hundreds of writers over the course of decades, you’ve essentially had one person guiding one massive, massive story. And so it’s so specific to his point of view. And my job right now when working on the script with the studio is to capture that. Because there would be no greater offence to me on the planet than making a bad Metal Gear movie. That would be a like a Scarlet Letter of epic proportions that I would not be able to live with myself with.

Captain Marvel

Brie Larson spoke to IGN about playing Carol Danvers during her Kong: Skull Island press tour:

I find it’s really hard for me to condense what she means to me. I was once a young girl and I was confused by what a hero was and what I wanted to be when I grow up and what was important to me. And so, I think it’s so complicated growing up and to attempt to become a symbol of truth and navigating through all the weird questions of growing up feels so, I’m getting emotional just talking about this, it feels so important to me. When it comes to her, I mean just the fact that she can be a bridge between two worlds, that she can go between Earth and space and that her own personal place is in this little area between where Earth ends and space begins and that’s only hers is so moving to me. I’m just inspired. I’ve been so inspired going through the comics and reading them right now. That’s what I’ve been doing on the side.

She also mentioned which look she’ll be sporting as Captain Marvel is a big point of contention among fans.

I can’t say anything… I feel like this is a big conversation and every day I have people yelling at me on Twitter like you better have long hair, or you better have a mohawk, or you better wear the helmet, or you better not wear the helmet, so someone’s going to be mad.

Thor: Ragnarok

In another interview, Tom Hiddleston told IGN that Loki does not rate Doctor Strange very highly:

I think he probably dismisses Strange. Yes, his sorcery is very impressive, but Loki has been doing that for centuries, so who cares?

On the other hand, Loki will be much more intimidated by Hela, who is terrifying:

Hela is a different beast, and full of surprises, and actually might have been someone with whom at one time he could have gotten along, but the circumstances have changed.

Legion

Finally, Katie Aselton promises there are far worse foes for David to encounter to come in the series:

As far as my character’s concerned, what we’ve seen thus far is, I have now become a pawn for Division 3. That’s like the government, the bad guys. But then there’s like an ultimate evil — worse than bad guys. So you’ll meet that ultimate evil and see what that guy’s up to.
