Here’s Everywhere You Can Pre-Order AMD’s New Ryzen CPUs

PC enthusiasts, it’s a good year so far. Not only do we have a new extreme GeForce GTX 1080 Ti on the way, but AMD is finally bringing the fight back to Intel with its new Ryzen CPUs. Here’s everywhere you can put your cash down a few days early to make sure you’ve got AMD’s latest Ryzen chips in your hands as soon as possible.

The three chips launching on March 3 are the Ryzen 1800X, 1700X and 1700 — the top-spec, Intel Core i7-equivalent range, each with 8 cores and 16 virtual threads available at either a 95W or 65W TDP. Here are their prices and vital statistics:

Ryzen 7 1800X: $699

  • Speed: 3.6Ghz base speed, 4.0GHz boost speed
  • Cores: 8 cores, 16 threads
  • TDP: 95W

Ryzen 7 1700X: $569

  • Speed: 3.4Ghz base speed, 3.8Ghz boost speed
  • Cores: 8 cores, 16 threads
  • TDP: 95W

Ryzen 7 1700: $469

  • Speed: 3.0Ghz base speed, 3.7GHz boost speed
  • Cores: 8 cores, 16 threads
  • TDP: 65W

And here’s where you can pre-order them:

Prices seem to be pretty consistent across the board, at those manufacturer’s RRPs — don’t expect to see any hugely tempting deals until stock settles down and more chips — including the more affordable Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 — hit the market.

From all early indications, Ryzen seems to be a great performer when it comes to multi-threaded applications, performing at the level or higher than Intel’s top octa-cores at a fraction of the price. We’re waiting for some comprehensive gaming benchmarks before we slap down cash, but we’re definitely impressed with what we’ve seen so far.

Also, remember that you’ll also need a compatible motherboard — using the AMD AM4 chipset and socket — and a new CPU cooler to suit the mount. [AMD]
