Australia Has A New $10 Note

And it looks pretty swish.

Don't get me wrong, it's no $5 note. But still pretty cool.

Like the new $5 the white area is windowed, which is awesome and I still get excited when I get a new $5 note.

"The $10 banknote celebrates two famous Australian writers, Dame Mary Gilmore and AB ‘Banjo’ Paterson," Philip Lowe, Governer of the Reserve Bank. "Their work is recognised in several design elements on the banknote, including images of a pen nib in two of the clear windows and excerpts of their poetry in microprint."

Each banknote features a different species of native Australian wattle and bird. These $10 feature the Bramble Wattle and the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo. Apparently work has been done to ensure the notes work in vending machines and the like. WE'LL SEE ABOUT THAT.

I like the design. Thoughts?

Did they get rid of the poem from the current $10?

It is still there in tiny print on the collar of his coat

    Looks pretty cool. I like.

Something about the way the new $5 note was coloured on screen made it look kinda stupid when it was first announced, but the notes themselves look good. These new $10 notes don't have that problem.

Whats is that top symbol in the clear bit? At first i thought i was a ned kelly mask but now i have no idea???

It's a pen nib. Like an old school fountain pen.

A pen nib. At first glance I thought it was Ned's helmet too

The blue is a tad bright for my liking, but I do really like the design. Can't wait to see what the rest of our notes will look like!

I like it. Looks better than the $5 note IMO. When will we see it in circulation?

Free Tip: If you're trying to bling these things up, drop the old dudes.

It's a bit like wearing fluro to a funeral, vegemite flavored ice cream etc...

      Yum.. Vegemite Ice Cream...
      *goes and wips some up*.

Question??? can you use these as record player stylus?

Looks good, hopefully the join between the clear and coloured part doesn't tear as easily as the $5 note though.

The new $20 should feature those little burs that get stuck on socks, anything fabric. Or perhaps some three-corner jacks.
