There’s AI That Can Recognise Skin Cancer

Getting moles checked is somethingevery Australian should be doing on a regular basis, and now there’s an alogrithm to make it even easier.

Created by US scientists, the AI is able to determine whether your mole is actually a skin cancer, from photos.

While the system has yet to be tested in real world conditions, researchers say its potential is enormous – as it could be used to diagnose conditions of the eyes, abnormalities on x-rays, and pathology slides.

They also add that, if installed on mobile phones, it could provide universal access to vital diagnostic care.
