Seeing The Northern Lights At 10,600 Metres Is The Best Reason To Fly To Iceland

Video: Iceland’s board of tourism is doing something right because the country has become a holiday hotspot in recent years. Apparently, even the flight up north can be a spectacular experience, as you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the northern lights from 10,600m.

Most people would sleep the hours away on an overnight flight from New York to Reykjavík, but finding himself on a mostly empty plane, Aryeh Nirenberg set up his Nikon D810 on a tripod to capture this amazing footage of the northern lights through the aircraft’s window.

If airlines could guarantee a view like this on every flight, we’d be less upset about having to pay to checked baggage these days.
